Two Of PEMS Brightest Stars Receive Governor's EMS Awards

PEMS is proud to announce that two of our our 2017 PEMS Regional Award recipients were selected as 2017 Governor's Awards winners.  Donna Galganski-Pabst (James City County Fire Department) was selected as the  2017 Governor's Award recipient for Outstanding Prehospital Educator and Ellen G. Vest (Rappahannock Community College) was selected as the 2017 Governor's Award recipient for Outstanding Contributions to EMS Health & Safety.  Both awards were announced at the Annual EMS Awards Banquet in Norfolk, VA on 11 November, 2017.

rsz donna galganski pabstDonna Galganski-Pabst is the primary EMS educator for James City County Fire Department, and volunteers for York County Department of Fire and Life Safety.  She also works with Tidewater Community College EMS Program, and teaches for the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue and Newport News Fire Department.  On the state level, Donna is involved in the Virginia EMS Symposium Planning Committee.

Donna is a tireless and consummate educator, in tune with her student’s needs and their well-being. She does whatever is necessary to ensure students get everything they need to be successful. Few providers on the Virginia Peninsula and surrounding areas have not been touched by Donna in her work as an educator and advocate for EMS students and educators alike.  Please join us in recognizing and congratulating Donna for her outstanding work on behalf of our EMS sytem!

Ellen VestEllen Vest has served as the Administrative Coordinator for the Peninsulas Regional Critical Incident Stress Management Team since 2009.  Well known and respected by providers, peers, agency leaders and mental health professionals throughout the region, Ellen ensures that the team is always ready to provide immediate, high quality service to emergency services personnel in the region, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and beyond. 

Whether providing for the numerous adminstrative requirements and functions of the CISM Team or providing peer support to those in crisis, Ellen's calm and reassuring manner continues to be an exceptional resource for us all.
