THE PENINSULAS EMS COUNCIL
POLICIES REGARDING CONSOLIDATED EMS TESTING

bluegrayskinny.jpg (3311 bytes)bluegrayskinny.jpg (3311 bytes)

The Peninsulas EMS Council has the responsibility to register and coordinate the EMS testing within the region. This is done under the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Office of EMS. At each test site are one or two OEMS Test Administrators. They act as the on site authority for OEMS concerning all EMS Testing matters.

At most test sites there will be EMTs and/or First Responders being tested or retested for skills as well as taking the written test. These skills stations require EMS equipment and disposable supplies as well as trained evaluators, moulaged victims, and table managers. Because of the expense involved, the council charges a non-refundable fee for skills testing.

  • Students testing or retesting two or three stations - $25

  • Students restesting one station only - $15

Registration fees along with the registration form must reach the PEMS office no later than 2 weeks prior to testing!

This deadline will not be extended. If an insufficient number of students are not registered by the deadline the test site will be cancelled. The decision must be made and reported to the Office of EMS 10 days prior to the test date.

A confirmation letter will be sent that includes site directions. This does not replace state required paperwork to be presented at the test site!

A check or money order must be sent to:

  • The Peninsulas EMS Council, PO Box 2348, Gloucester, VA 23061

(A fee of $15 will be applied for returned checks.)

  • These students are encouraged to keep the two week registration deadline. If registering late, please call the PEMS Office at 804-693-6234 to make sure seating is available.  There are no applicable fees.
