Project 1: Trauma Triage Project

Project 2: STEMI PI Project

Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of the Regional Trauma Triage Protocol and to assure the right patients get to the right hospitals at the right time. The project will have three primary evaluation areas:  over triage and under triage rates, timeliness of care, and outcomes of care

Patient Criteria: Patients identified as meeting the PEMS Trauma Triage Criteria or any of the following:

  1. Trauma patient that was triaged to a trauma center
  2. Trauma patient that was diverted from their original destination hospital to a trauma center
  3. Traumatic Deaths On Arrival (DOA)

Process for Data Collect: For any patient meeting the above criteria you should complete one of the two data collection forms. These forms should be forwarded to the PEMS Council on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Purpose: To evaluate the pre-hospital care provided to patients diagnosed with ST elevation MI or new onset of LBBB. The project will have three primary evaluation areas:  timeliness of care, treatment provided, and outcomes of care.

Patient Criteria:  Patients identified with a diagnosis with ST elevation MI or new onset of LBBB as determined by initial receiving hospital.

Process for Data Collect: PEMS will forward the identified STEMI patients to the respective EMS agency. The EMS agency should then complete a PPCR review on each of these identified patients by completing the STEMI Data Sheet. The data sheet should then be forwarded to the PEMS Council upon completion.
