Berg, Manager, Regulation and Compliance Subject: Change in CTS Test Procedure - Removal of PPCR from Medical & Trauma Stations; Extension of the Suspension of the BLS (AED) Practical Exam At the quarterly Professional Development Committee (PDC) held in July 2007, the BLS Certification Test Ad-hoc Committee presented a recommendation to discontinue the requirement to complete a written PPCR in the Medical and Trauma Practical Station. This recommendation was approved by the PDC. As a result, effective August 1, 2007, candidates will no longer be required to complete a PPCR when testing the Medical or Trauma Practical Stations. Because of this change,candidates can no longer fail for G-167 (Trauma)/ G-198 (Medical) Report Received by evaluator. This is a global change, so any candidate whose Primary Retest or Secondary Test or Retest takes place after August 1, 2007 will not have to complete a PPCR. This change IS NOT retroactive. Any candidate who failed the Medical and/or Trauma practical station because of the PPCR requirement prior to August 1, 2007 is not entitled to grieve their failure and must retest. In addition, PDC voted to extend the suspension of the BLS (AED) Practical exam until July 1, 2008 to allow the Certification Test Ad-hoc Committee time to complete its tasks and forward recommendations to the committee. In the next several weeks, updated CTS pages reflecting these changes will be distributed to all test site personnel and regional EMS Councils.
